Sol Organics

Quick verdict

Sol Organics is best for value-driven shoppers who want certified organic, fair trade bedding without the typical luxury price tag. What stands out is their rare triple-certification stack, GOTS, Fair Trade USA, and OEKO-TEX, at prices 30–50% below comparable organic brands like Coyuchi and Boll & Branch. The caveat: the brand is currently in a website relaunch phase with limited product availability, holds a D- BBB rating, and publishes no formal sustainability reports beyond its certifications.

Rating breakdown

Materials & Sourcing
4.5/5

100% GOTS-certified organic long-staple cotton from non-GMO seeds, grown in India using rainfed irrigation. Low-impact organic dyes with zero colour transfer (independently verified). Down products use ethically sourced Canadian White Hutterite Down.

Labor & Ethics
4/5

Manufacturing in a FLOCERT/FLO-certified factory in India with Fair Trade USA certification. Workers receive fair wages plus Fair Trade premiums reinvested at their discretion. Strict no-child-labor policy. Down products made in Canada.

Environmental Impact
3.5/5

Organic cotton requires 71% less water and 62% less energy than conventional. Carbon neutral shipping via Onward/Cool Effect partnership. Biodegradable, mostly plastic-free packaging. However, no formal carbon targets, no published footprint data, and no circularity program.

Transparency
3/5

Certifications (GOTS, Fair Trade, OEKO-TEX, FLOCERT) all involve independent third-party auditing, strong proxy for transparency. Founders personally vetted factories. However, no published impact reports, no public supplier list, and no quantitative environmental data.

Price-to-Value
5/5

Queen organic sateen sheet set at ~$159 versus $200–$350+ from Coyuchi and Boll & Branch. The brand deliberately maintains half the markup of online competitors. Exceptional value for triple-certified organic fair trade bedding.

What they do well

  • Triple-certified supply chain: the rare combination of GOTS + Fair Trade USA + OEKO-TEX + FLOCERT is unusually comprehensive for a bedding brand at this price point
  • Best-in-class pricing for certified organic fair trade bedding: deliberately low-markup model makes sustainable bedding genuinely accessible
  • $7.50 per purchase donated to customer-nominated charities including The Children's Defense Fund and Hope For Justice (anti-trafficking)
  • Independently verified quality: Sleepopolis lab testing confirmed true 300TC, minimal pilling, under 5% shrinkage, and zero colour bleed
  • Farm-to-factory-to-fabric traceability with founders personally visiting and selecting manufacturing partners

Room for improvement

  • No independent sustainability watchdog rating, no Remake assessment, and no B Corp certification, limiting third-party validation beyond product-level certifications.
  • Currently in a website relaunch/transition phase with many products sold out or on deep clearance, creating uncertainty about business continuity and ordering reliability.

About Sol Organics

Vishal Naithani and Sachin Chauhan, longtime friends and business partners based in Edina, Minnesota, conceived Sol Organics (Sustained Organic Living) in 2010 after two decades running a successful wholesale essential oils business, Disturbed by textile industry exploitation and the "gimmickry around thread counts," they purchased sheets from high-end retailers (Frette, Pottery Barn, Macy's) and sent them to international labs for analysis, concluding that 300 thread count, long-staple, single-ply construction offered optimal quality. They then contacted hundreds of factories in India, ultimately selecting one with full GOTS, FLO, Fair Trade, and OEKO-TEX certifications.

All cotton bedding is manufactured in India using 100% organic long-staple cotton grown from non-GMO seeds with rainfed irrigation. Down products use Canadian White Hutterite Down and are made in Canada. The brand offers sateen, percale, linen, and brushed flannel weaves with low-impact organic dyes. Carbon neutral shipping is available through their Onward/Cool Effect partnership.

Sol Organics ships only to the US and Canada (no international). Pre-relaunch pricing positioned queen sheet sets at ~$159, roughly half the price of comparable organic brands. Current clearance pricing shows even deeper discounts (linen sheets from $103, originally $385). The brand has garnered strong reviews from Sleepopolis, Sleep Advisor, and Mattress Clarity, with a return rate under 3%.
